The month of March is National Reading Month. The month kicks off with ‘Read Across America Day’ on March 2,  Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Dr. Seuss is one of the most well-known children’s book authors of all time. His books such as Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop and many more make for great read aloud stories and have brought many smiles to the faces of children. On National Read Across America Day last week, students, teachers, parents, and community members around the nation came together to read books and celebrate the joy of reading.

Here at Fennimore Elementary School many special reading activities were held all week. In  some of the younger grades, parents and other special visitors came in to read aloud to students. In addition, several older grade levels paired up with younger grade levels to do some partner reading and share stories. Teachers also organized other special classroom activities like bringing in stuffed animals to read with,  pajama day and Dr. Seuss crafts.  It was a fun week to celebrate the power of reading and books!
