students visit a one room school house at stonefiled

The Fourth Grade students visited Stonefield Village last Friday. They learned about life in the early 1900’s. They learned about Wisconsin history with a  visit to the agriculture museum, a farmhouse, a  one room school and the creamery.

At the creamery, they learned how farmers brought in their milk. They saw the machines used to separate the milk from the fat. They even got to make butter!

In the Agriculture Museum they learned about harvesting wild rice, cranberries, and dairy products. The dioramas and farm equipment helped them understand how farming and farming techniques have changed over time.

The visit to the one room schoolhouse was very interesting. Children in grades 1-8 attended school there. They also learned that the Pledge of Allegiance has changed over time. They thought it was interesting that girls sat on one side of the room and boys on the other, and that the children learned through a bee choosing a math, spelling or geography question.

They had a great day of learning about Wisconsin history on the field trip to Stonefield Village.
