Class of the Week- Ms. Kauffman's Class

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Kauffman's 2nd Grade Class. Ms. Kauffman’s students have had an awesome school year so far. These 2nd graders have learned several new, challenging strategies in Math. From two step story problems to counting different amounts of money, they have impressed their teacher with their wisdom. In reading, they have studied many different genres. Through these genres they have practiced strategies to become better readers. These strategies include context clues, author’s purpose, comparing and contrasting, cause and effect, and problem-solution.

In science, Ms. Kauffman’s class has enjoyed learning about animals, seasons, airplanes, and different types of weather. They love doing experiments and have even created an erupting volcano, as well as a glitter tornado with two liter bottles! For social studies, this curious class has studied the life of Johnny Appleseed, the history of Thanksgiving, Christmas around the world, and Martin Luther King Jr.

This spring, they are looking forward to studying landforms and raising baby chicks! No matter what subject these second graders encounter, they work hard and do their best. Ms. Kauffman is very proud of how far they have come, and she looks forward to the rest of the school year with them.
