8 students pose in two rows with their teacher, 4 are holding certificates nd wearing medals

Several Fennimore High School students had a unique opportunity yesterday. Loras College held a "Chemistry Olympics", which is specific for upper level chemistry (Chemistry II or AP Chemistry).  Mrs. Bailey took her AP Chemistry class (Connor, Carter, Jackson, Delanee, Jason, and Kyleigh) and two of her general chemistry students (Natalie and Allison).

The morning consisted of 3 lab challenges, followed by lunch, a guest speaker on degrees in chemistry, and some exploratory activities (including their planetarium).  In the afternoon, they participated in content knowledge trivia games.

One team (Connor, Jackson, Carter, and Natalie) made it to the final jeopardy game at the end of the day, and came in second!  That team also won 1st place for the "medley game", for which earned them a medal and a $1,000 scholarship to Loras College!

Great job students and thank you Mrs. Bailey for taking them on a great learning experience!
