The 2nd grade students have been so excited about their chick unit!  The kids have been learning a lot about chickens, eggs, and chicks.  A big shout out to John Linneman for donating the fertilized eggs so that the students could experience this amazing feature of nature!

The eggs were placed in incubators set at 100 degrees. The hard part was waiting for 21 days for something to happen.  When the 21st day finally came last week, the classrooms welcomed a few dozen fluffy and healthy young peepers! After a bit, the dried off chicks were moved over to the brooders. The Second Graders sure enjoyed observing them!  The kids were sad when the chicks left their classrooms at the end of week, but were happy to know that the chicks will have a comfortable home back at the Linneman farm with more room to move about!
