a group of student in a dark cave holding flashlights

As a culmination for their landform unit, the 2nd graders got to experience one of the landforms they studied - a cave! They visited Eagle Cave, near Blue River, which is Wisconsin's largest onyx cave. They explored inside the cave itself, learned the history of this particular cave, and were able to see stalactites and stalagmites firsthand. They learned that the temperature inside the cave is a consistent 52 degrees all year long. Other activities that our hosts provided were a golden nugget scavenger hunt on The Gold Trail, a wagon ride, and miniature golf. The weather was even perfect for their lunches outside! Thank you Wes, Kyle, and Michelle Hanke from Eagle Cave for organizing this awesome day for our students!
