Wednesday, September 21st was the State Soil Judging contest held at Southwest Tech, and the Fennimore FFA sent a senior and a junior team to the contest.

Out of 19 teams in the junior division, Fennimore's junior team, consisting of Tim Bruner, JP Scanlan, Reid Stalsberg, and Teagan Griswold placed second. Also individually in the junior division Reid Stalsberg placed fifth and Teagan Griswold placed second.


Out of 19 teams in the senior division, Fennimore's senior team, consisting of Noah Foreyt, Abby Adrian, Wesley Winch, and Tyson Gehrke placed first. Individually in the senior division Wesley Winch placed fourth and Tyson Gehrke placed first in the state!


We are very excited with how the contest turned out and cannot wait for our senior team to judge at nationals in Oklahoma next May!

What is Soil Judging?
Soil Judging is an FFA Career Development Event where it encourages students to learn more about the soil and encourages them to appreciate it. With this knowledge students then apply it to judge the different soil properties.
