senior students sit in a row in the outdoor theater

Nestled in the trees outside of Spring Green is the theater complex of American Players Theatre.  It features a large outdoor amphitheater and an indoor theater.  Fennimore High School sophomores and seniors were once again privileged to attend a play in the outdoor theater.

On Tuesday, Sept 27th, the sophomores watched the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry.  Set in south Chicago, a black family receives an insurance payout after the death of the father.  While attempting to improve their financial circumstances, they deal with matters such as housing discrimination and racism.

Wednesday, Sept 28th saw the seniors traveling to see the Shakespearean play, Hamlet. This tragedy is William Shakespeare's longest play and is set in Denmark.  Prince Hamlet desires revenge after his uncle murders Hamlet's father in an attempt seize the throne and marry his mother.

Thank you to the American Players Theatre for two amazing field trips for our English classes!
