They have officially wrapped up learning their 0–10 multiplication facts using the distributive property! They've also kicked off their new CKLA reading unit on classic tales, exploring setting, characters, plot, and personification. Way to go, third grade! Keep up the amazing work! #fes #EaglesSoar

Last Friday, FES fourth graders traveled to Madison for an exciting field trip to the Wisconsin State Capitol and the Wisconsin Veterans Museum!

At the State Capitol, students explored the rooms where laws are created and passed. They learned how committees discuss issues facing Wisconsin and visited the courtroom where the Wisconsin Supreme Court hears important cases.

At the Veterans Museum, students viewed lifelike displays and learned about the experiences and sacrifices of Wisconsin soldiers throughout history.

The trip brought classroom learning to life and gave students a deeper understanding of our state's government and the brave men and women who have served our country! #fes #EaglesSoar

FHS Junior Class Attends Wisconsin Education Fair!

The entire Fennimore High School junior class recently attended the Wisconsin Education Fair (WEF) at UW-Platteville!

Students had the opportunity to explore their options after high school and connect with representatives from colleges, universities, technical colleges, trade schools, and the military.

The fair provided a great opportunity for our juniors to ask questions, learn about different programs, and begin planning for their futures.

A great experience for the Class of 2028 as they explore the many opportunities available after graduation!

FES 5th graders did an amazing job on their field trip to Bethel Horizons last week. They stepped up to every challenge! Activities included the zip line, the giant swing, and team-building! They worked together, pushed past their comfort zones, and represented our school well. One of the best parts of the day was hearing students encourage one another, offer support, and work together through each challenge. Their teamwork, effort, and positive attitudes were something to be proud of! A huge thank-you to the wonderful parent chaperones and bus driver for helping make this experience possible! #fes #EaglesSoar

Alumni Spotlight: Wesley Winch "Star in Agribusiness" Finalist

Wesley Winch, a member of the Fenimore FFA Chapter in Wisconsin and a finalist for the American Star in Agribusiness Award, describes his Supervised Agricultural Experience running Tuft's Hoof Trimming, a business providing hoof care and lameness treatment to local dairy farms. He explains how the venture began during the COVID-19 pandemic and grew from trimming one to two cows a day to 50-100, overcoming challenges like building self-confidence while working with live animals. Wesley also shares his future plans to purchase his own hydraulic chute and continue helping dairy farmers keep their cows healthy.

Fennimore High School was well represented at the SWAL Leadership Conference on Wednesday, October 14, at Darlington High School!

Our student-athletes had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Alex Erickson, a Darlington graduate, former Wisconsin Badger, and NFL player.

It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about leadership, teamwork, and the importance of setting goals while connecting with student-athletes from other SWAL schools.

Proud of our Golden Eagles!

Mrs. Ahnen and Mrs. Bunn are participating in the Library Book Budget Project through CESA 3. Matt Renwick from CESA 3 visited Mrs. Bunn’s classroom to kick off the project. Students will help select new books for the classroom library ($750) and the school library ($2,500)! Matt also donated a book to the classroom.

Students applied for project jobs and will take on a variety of responsibilities, including surveying classmates about book preferences, weeding out classroom library books that are no longer useful, shelving new books, and completing other tasks throughout the project.

What an exciting opportunity to grow classroom and school library collections while building valuable teamwork, budgeting, and decision-making skills! #fes #EaglesSoar

The 2nd grade classes visited Shihata’s Apple Orchard last Friday. Even though the weather was cold and stormy, everyone had a fun day! The students learned about the apple processing plant and explored the orchard, which has over 10,000 apple trees. They also made an apple craft and enjoyed delicious caramel sundaes. After their visit, the students returned to school for lunch and a movie before heading out to watch the Homecoming Parade!
