Excitement is brewing in the 2nd grade hallway! Today is Day 10 of incubating eggs! If all is just right, the baby chick, by day 7, will have developed its vital organs, beak, legs, and wings. Then, around Day 8, feathers will have started to form on the chick. By day 18, the embryo will have developed into a chick and will take up most of the space in the egg as the chick prepares to hatch.
Earlier in the week, the 2nd grade students candled their eggs, which means they shined a bright light through the egg. What were they looking for? They were looking for a dark streak that tells them something has started growing in the egg. They also were looking for blood vessels that bring nourishment to the baby chick! #EaglesSoar #FenSchools

Harriet Tubman, Gandhi, Helen Keller, Anne Frank, and Jackie Robinson were some of the biographies Mrs. Melcher's students chose to read for their Bottle Buddy Biography unit. Reading biographies can often help students learn about the world through the struggles and challenges others have faced. Great work 3rd graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

Today the elementary students had the opportunity to walk up to the high school to listen to the high school band and choir students perform. In addition to some small groups perform, they listened to the show choir, jazz band, madrigal, and handbell choir.
Thank you for being such a great audience elementary students! Good luck tomorrow at state solo/ensemble high school performers!

The Boscobel Bike Rodeo has been rescheduled to next Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics Bluff Street parking lot due to the rainy weather forecast for this weekend!
Thank you for attending our book fair! Our school library and classrooms now have an additional $1220 in books because of your support!

Our 3rd graders recently finished up a biography unit. During this unit students picked a person, read their biography, wrote a report, and created a bottle buddy of that person. Learning about the life story of a successful person can teach many essential life skills. Two of those important skills are persevering to achieve goals and maintaining a fair perspective while also recognizing other viewpoints. Great job 3rd graders! #fes #EaglesSoar
