Congratulations to the Fennimore FFA Meat Evaluation Team for placing second at the state contest last week! They will now get the opportunity to compete at the Western National Roundup at Colorado State University! This contest hosts FFA, 4H and Collegiate teams from across the Nation.
The Meat Evaluation contest is held in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show held in Denver Colorado, January of 2025. Individually Reid Stalsberg placed 10th, JP Scanlan placed 11th, Tim Bruner placed 25th and Teegan Griswold placed 30th out of 79 contestants. All four scores counted for the team score.
Great job guys earning the opportunity to compete at the National Level! A big thank you goes out to the parents who help get these students to all the practices and contests!

We’re celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week in the Fennimore Community Schools!
We wish to express our gratitude for the incredible people who have dedicated their lives to preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
In these final weeks of the school year, we invite families, students, and communities to take some time to reflect on everything our teachers have done and continue to do to support our students.
Join us in thanking our teachers for all they do!

FES is conducting a Penny War next week May 6th-May 10th. All funds raised will go toward assisting Mrs. Ambort, our Guidance Counselor, and her family, while her son Quentin is undergoing treatment for Leukemia. #EaglesSoar #fes

Fourth grade paired up with the FFA students to learn how food goes from farm to table. They started by visiting Lazy M Farms to see how dairy farms work. Then they visited Sugar and Spice where all students got the chance to plant a tomato plant. On their next stops they visited Jentz's farm to learn all about beef cattle and Bender's Foods to learn how they process everything. They capped off their perfect day of learning by enjoying delicious ice cream at Udder Brothers. A special thanks to all of our local hosts for providing us the opportunity to learn more about the agriculture industry in our area. #fes #EaglesSoar

The fifth grade classes visited Peoples State Bank to learn about how money is counted using a change machine, how to deposit money, and all of the other duties that a bank might perform. Students also learned about how long it takes to design new bills and who designs them, how to tell if a bill is counterfeit, and other special characteristics that each bill has. A huge thanks to Peoples State Bank for this wonderful learning opportunity. #fes #EaglesSoar

The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony was held Wednesday, April 17th.
This year all sophomores, juniors and seniors meeting the GPA requirement of 3.5 or higher were sent an email that included details about the Fennimore chapter of the National Honor Society and an application to apply. The application consisted of listing leadership positions, service activities, and a personal statement that asked them to express their core values, beliefs and describe how they display character. Including how those values support their academic success and service to others. A deadline is set for the information to be reviewed by a five member faculty council. The faculty council meets to review the applications and makes their selections based on the information provided.
The pictures below show our outstanding new and current members.

Egg-citement levels are brewing at FES! The second grade classrooms have been learning about the life cycle of the chicken and are lucky enough to have an area farmer, John Linneman, bring fertilized eggs in! Right now, the eggs are in incubators set around 100 degrees. The chicks will need 21 days in the egg to develop. After a few days, Ms. Schwingle's class used a bright light to shine through each egg. This is called "candling." They looked for the "dark streak" that indicates something has started growing in the egg. In some eggs, they could even see the heart and blood vessels that have already formed! They can't wait until hatching day! #fes #EaglesSoar

Spanish 2 students attended the first annual World Language Day event at UW-Platteville. They learned some interesting facts about world languages and viewed a variety of performances by university language students. This included a vocal performance and a skit in German, poetry and cooking demonstrations in Spanish, a French fable about the crow and the fox, and a Chinese dance. After the event, they enjoyed a muy delicioso lunch at Fiesta Cancun.

They also toured the hospital which included a special trip to the roof to see the helipad! The kindergarten classes want to say a big "thank you" to Grant Regional for a wonderful trip! #fes #EaglesSoar
