Yesterday, April 27th, was Teach Children to Save Day and so it was a perfect time for the FES 5th Grade students to tour the People's State Bank. They learned some interesting facts about money, the bank, and about the importance of saving money. Thank you to the staff at People's State Bank for teaching our students about the importance of investing in their future #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Reinke's 2nd grade! They have been very busy learning about the life cycle of a chicken. They currently have 36 eggs in the incubator and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of little chicks during the first week of May. This is always such a fun unit and the kids are excited to meet their new "classmates". Also, the class just finished wrapping up a math unit on geometry and are starting data and graphing next. In reading, the focus is finding solutions to problems in a story and using context clues to figure out unknown words. These 2nd graders will also be starting the alphabet countdown soon to count down the last 26 days of school! Keep up the great work 2nd graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

Excitement is brewing in the 2nd grade classrooms as there is only 7 more days until their chicks hatch.! Earlier in the week, the 2nd grade students candled their eggs, which means they shined a bright light through the egg. What were they looking for? They were looking for a dark streak that tells them something has started growing in the egg. They also were looking for blood vessels that bring nourishment to the baby chick. It won't be long now before lots of chirping will be heard down the 2nd grade hallway! #fes #EaglesSoar

Don't forget Early Release tomorrow, Thursday, April 27th! #EaglesSoar #fes

Students in Mrs. Langmeier’s Fifth Grade Social Studies Classes have
been working hard and having fun studying for their States and
Capitals Quizzes. One game they played on the smart board to review
was like the board game, Whack a Mole, and the other game was matching
states with their shapes. The students enjoyed doing several
competitive rounds declaring Champs of each class! #fes #EaglesSoar

Also included in the "Olympics" were 2 trivia based events that challenged their understanding of chemistry topics in fast-paced, intense games. Along with the events, included a planetarium viewing, anatomy demonstration, and an astronomy demonstration.
There were 18 teams and 12 different schools that competed in the Chemistry Olympics. A big congratulations to our team for winning 1st place in the "Medley Games", winning a medal and a $1,000 Loras Scholarship. Great job!!
