Last month the 2nd graders learned about Earth’s landforms and how they were formed. The students put in some very creative work building their landform dioramas. They were proud to present them to their families and friends! Another fun and tasty activity the 2nd graders loved was making edible landforms! #FES #EaglesSoar

Yesterday the AP Biology students had a guest. Normally, they go to BTCI in Madison for their Biotechnology labs, but the building is under construction. Yesterday, BTCI came to Fennimore!
In the morning, students used restriction enzymes to cut DNA into fragments. Then, they loaded the fragments into a gel electrophoresis chamber to sort the pieces by size.
In the afternoon, students performed bacterial transformation. They made E. coli pick up a plasmid that allowed the bacteria to glow when exposed to the right conditions.

We are happy to announce our first "Microsoft Office Triple Threats" for the year! These students have certified in Excel, Word and Power Point as part of Mrs. Goss' Advanced Computer Applications class and plan to complete even more yet this year. This is a huge accomplishment - congrats to these students! #GetBadged #EaglePride

Before Spring Break Kindergarten through Second Grade students got to experience what it would be like to be an illustrator of a book. Mrs. Hines, our elementary library assistant, wrote a short book titled "March Yuck!" and each student got the opportunity to illustrate one of the pages. The classes then got to keep the finished copy in their classroom library. FES certainly has some great illustrators out there! #fes #EaglesSoar

Why is it important to cast an informed vote? Every vote is important and can contribute to the outcome of the referendum vote. Sometimes, people think that their vote won’t matter. This simply is not true. When people participate in this process, we have a much more representative result from the community’s voters. Please remember to vote tomorrow.

FES Decade Day has been rescheduled to this Friday, April 5th. Get those outfits ready to dress up in your favorite style from any decade! #fes #EaglesSoar

There is a very important Referendum Question On April 2 ballot. Please make sure you know where to vote on Tuesday!

Post Prom Info!

Did you know? Large-scale repairs are needed for our school buildings to address critical facility needs like removing asbestos from roofs and replacing roofs that are over 70 years old. At the elementary school, the lower level bathrooms are not ADA accessible. If approved the referendum will address critical issues such as these. Please cast an informed vote. Visit the Referendum FAQs for more details.

Many days you can see Officer French at FES walking the halls and talking with students. Recently, he took time to show some young students how to make shadow puppets before school. #fes #EaglesSoar

Did you know? The district tax rate has declined 19% in the past six years. The district has also prepaid $675,000 in interest on debts over the past 3 years and will be debt free this year. As a result the April 2 referendum will have no impact on the district tax rate.

Even though it doesn't look much like Spring out there today, don't forget next week is Spring Break at Fennimore Schools. There is no school Monday, March 25th through March 29th. School will resume on Monday, April 1st. Have a safe and enjoyable break ! #fcs #EaglesSoar

Recently, Officer French and Officer Fecht began visiting the 5th graders to work through the CounterAct Curriculum. This five week program is designed to encourage cooperation among families, schools, and police officers. It focuses on giving students the skills to make positive behavior choices and to resist the pressures to get involved with alcohol, drugs or violence. One of the activities had students put on the impairment goggles so they could see the real life risks of alcohol impairment. Throughout the program, students take assignments home to complete and discuss with their parents. This communication helps students understand parent expectations when dealing with different situations. #fes #EaglesSoar

Fennimore High School's Student Council Blood Drive goes until 2:00 today and there is room for walk-ins!

Don't forget Friday is Decade Day at FES! Dress up in your favorite style from any decade! #fes #EaglesSoar

Wrapping up our coverage for Music in Our School Month is the creative display that can be found outside of the elementary music room. There our music teacher, Ms. Stolte, has created a collage of all of the elementary staff members showcasing their instrumental or vocal talents from elementary/middle/high/college school years, plus present times!
