This week's Class of the Week is Mr. Z's 5th Grade Class. Many students have used these dreary winter months to get wrapped up in a good book. Furthermore, they are using reading class to complete a research essay on a specific endangered animal. During math class, the 5th graders have dove into the world of fractions and have begun to work on mixed numbers as well. Finally, for Science and Social Studies, students just finished units on physical and chemical change and the Industrial Revolution respectively. Keep up the good work 5th graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

FES kindergarten through third grade classrooms had some special visitors today! University of Wisconsin-Platteville student athlete leaders stopped by and read to the students. Students loved meeting the athletes and enjoyed the stories they shared!

Mrs. Melcher's students recently completed a Mystery Science unit where they learned about clothes and their different properties. After being “trapped” on an island they were required to use different materials to make a hat to protect themselves from the sun. The kids had a blast with this fun learning activity while also dreaming of warmer weather! 😎

Earlier this month, PE classes in grades K-5 got the chance to roller skate twice per week for 2 weeks in a row during gym class. Thanks to our PE Staff, teachers, and the Rainbo Palace for making this happen again for our students. Skating proves to be an enjoyable way for students to sneak in exercise while doing a fun activity. #EaglesSoar #fes

Recently, some of our 4th and 5th grade students participated in a Math 24 competition at Southwest Tech. Math 24 is a fast-paced math card game which builds strong mental math and problem-solving skills.
This year's participants from FES were Henry Volz, Lily Griswold, Stella Zart, Maya Knapp, Rachel Foreyt, and Maci Klar. FES students did a great job competing against students from the other 11 area schools! Henry Volz earned first place in the 4th grade individual competition and our FES 4th grade team also finished first overall with their combined points. Great job students! #fes #EaglesSoar

Amazing what some hard work and creativity can do. Konner Swatek, senior, created this American flag made out of metal in his Welding 1 class. Great job Konner!

This year there will be a Trivia Prep night with Gundersen Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 1st from 5:00-6:00 in the elementary cafeteria. It will be a great way for students to get through the books they have not read yet or re-read to prepare for the big event! Hope to see you there! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Nalepinski's Mon/Wed 4K Class. This hard working group of students have had a busy start to 2023! They have been learning about the color purple and a friend named "Harold" who loves to draw great stories with his purple crayon. They even used their own purple crayons to decorate their king and queen crowns. Another friend they met was "Jungle Jim the Jellyfish". He is helping them learn the letter "Jj" and the color purple. The 4K students are enjoying the new snow and hope for lots more to play in! Keep up the great work 4K students!

Eagles, Packers, Badgers, Brewers, or Bucks...it didn't matter. Everyone at FES was on the same team today...the Kindness Team! #GrowKindness #GreatKindnessChallenge #EaglesSoar #fes

Ariana Reinsbach recently accomplished two amazing feats in Mrs. Langmeier's 5th Grade Social Studies Class. She learned all of the Presidents in order in one night. She also learned and recited the Gettysburg Address after practicing for only one weekend. Way to go, Ariana! Keep up the good work! (Word has it that she can also recite the Presidents in reverse order!) #EaglesSoar #fes
