Red Ribbon Week is coming next week to FES! The annual National Red Ribbon Campaign™ began in 1985. The campaign's goals are to educate youth on the dangers of drug use and the importance of making healthy choices. The theme this year is "Celebrate life, live drug free". This theme is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free! Please join us in this celebration with our special dress up days all next week! #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Greenlee's 4th Grade Class. The fourth graders in Mrs. Greenlee’s Class are working hard to be great classmates and great learners. They have worked on finding the main idea and key details in reading along with writing friendly letters. The fourth graders are doing an amazing job finding text evidence and writing answers to reading questions. In math they have expanded their knowledge of place value and are working hard applying math facts to multiplication problems. During health they are learning about how to make healthier choices at their favorite restaurants. In science they learned that to be an inventor you will not always have things work the first time, you need to keep trying! In social studies they are learning about the effects of the glaciers on Wisconsin and that they live in the driftless area. They are also learning about what happens at the Capitol to prepare for their visit there next week. Mrs. Greenlee’s Class is off to a wonderful start and are looking forward to having a great year! During August and September Collision Specialists of Fennimore and Livingston ran a back-to-school fundraiser to help raise funds for area schools. The business donated a percentage of each sale to the customer’s school of choice. Several customers chose Fennimore Schools during the fundraiser which equaled a $2,285.42 donation to the school district.
Collision Specialists understands communities are built around local schools and looks forward to this fundraiser every year. Since the fundraiser’s inception in 2012 they have donated over $35,000 to area school districts. This year alone, they were able to raise over $8,200 for 13 different school districts. A huge thanks to Collision Specialist staff and customers for supporting Fennimore Schools! #EaglesSoar

The 3rd Graders enjoyed their pumpkin week with many activities based on Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math Skills. They read pumpkin stories and weighed, measured, and counted seeds from their pumpkins. They also learned about the life cycle of pumpkins. Their biggest activity was learning their oceans and continents and painting their pumpkins like a globe. A huge thank you to LuAnna Staskal for donating the pumpkins again this year. The 3rd grade teachers and students really appreciate the donation and look forward to this pumpkin week every year! #EaglesSoar

It is National School Bus Safety Week (NSBSW). National School Bus Safety Week reminds students, parents, teachers, and the community to keep school bus safety at the forefront.
Roughly 54% of all K-12 students in the United States rely on school bus transportation. More than 25 million children ride school buses daily throughout the United States. That accounts for 47,000,000 trips daily – before you include an estimated 5,000,000 more for activity trips. Let's all do our part to keep our students and drivers safe! #EaglesSoar

Don't forget about this fun event coming up next week! #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Schoenberg's 3rd Grade Class. Mrs. Schoenberg's Class has been working hard on mastering their multiplication facts. They have been learning different strategies to use when multiplying. In reading they have been working on finding the main idea and the key details in a text. Last Friday they went on a field trip to Folklore Village and learned about different games and dances from the past. They even made their own wool balls. This week they have been celebrating Pumpkin Week and have been creating their own pumpkin globes and learning about the life cycle of pumpkins. This class has been so fun to get to know and it will be exciting to watch them continue to grow! Keep up the great work 3rd Graders!

3rd Graders visited Folklore Village by Dodgeville last Friday. During their trip they learned about how folklore is passed from generation to generation. They also learned about where wool comes from, its many uses, and what is made from it. All students got to make a ball from wool by forming it into felt. The visit to the one-room school house was interesting and the students enjoyed playing some of the games that the children who attended school back then would have played. To end the afternoon, students were taught how to dance the waltz and a couple other dances that were popular many years ago. It was a great day of learning and playing. #EaglesSoar
