Last week our 3rd grade students explored the magical world of dolls and toys at the Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum. During the field trip, each student was given a picture and they had to locate the item in the picture in the museum displays. The students loved the scavenger hunt and seeing all of the vintage toys, dolls, and classic cars! FES is lucky to have this non-profit museum in our community and are thankful for all of the volunteers that keep the museum going. #fes #EaglesSoar #fennimoredollandtoymuseum

Last week our 5th grade safety patrol attended the annual Safety Patrol Congress in Wisconsin Dells. Students celebrated all their hard work and commitment this year with a day of fun including a ride to the Witches Gulch on the Upper Dells boat tour, mini golf, laser tag, exploring the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, and the amusement fun of Knuckleheads. Thanks for all you've done this year students! #fes #EaglesSoar

Last week the 4th grade classes went on a Food For America field trip. Students learned how their food starts out on the farm and then how it gets to their plates. They were lucky enough to visit the Winch Dairy Farm, Jentz Beef Farm, Sugar and Spice, Piggly Wiggly, and Udder Brothers. A huge thank you goes out to all those farms, businesses, and our FFA students for making this such a great learning adventure for our fourth grade students! #fes #EaglesSoar

On May 12th, the third-graders went to the Osborne Nature Center in Elkader, Iowa. Students took part in many activities centered around nature. They did a scavenger hunt where they looked for items in the Welcome Center, went on a wildlife walk to see animals such as the cougar, black bear, and hawk, learned about owls, and did a water activity following the "life" of a water molecule. Even though their hike was rained out, they learned fascinating facts and had a lot of fun. #fes #EaglesSoar

5th Grade Students enjoyed sharing their ABC's of the USA Displays with FES students and their parents, grandparents, special friends, neighbors, and other relatives recently. Back in March, they picked topics that started with letters of the alphabet. After researching about their topics, they wrote reports and drew pictures to go along with them. Then they designed 3D models or made displays to go along with their ABC projects. Great work, 5th Grade. Way to bring history alive at FES! #fes #EaglesSoar

Contact Mrs. Goss with Questions!

Mrs. Greenlee's 4th grade class read a story about all the inventions of Benjamin Franklin. Not only did they learn that he invented many, many things, he also had failures, but never gave up!
To begin, the fourth graders were asked about their favorite toy, game or object and to think of something about it they wanted to improve. After identifying the enhancement or new object, kids researched their idea. After planning and drawing their product they made a model. One criteria was that the model must be built using recycled materials. The kids were very creative both in their ideas and their models.
Inventions included portable basketball hoops, phones that can't get lost and are easy to hear from, basketballs for a variety of practice scenarios, a laser that helped clarify fouls and out of bounds, softest stuffed animals, a flying bike, enhanced balance beam, specialty ATV's and safety accessories to motorbikes and many others. These young inventions are our future problem solvers! Great job 4th graders! #EaglesSoar #fes

Fennimore High School Band has some exciting news!
Meghan Trader, an alto saxophone player and junior at Fennimore High School, was accepted into this year's WSMA State Honors Band. The WSMA State Honors Project is nationally recognized as one of the finest opportunities for young people and was established in 1967. This honors band is comprised of the most skilled high school students from Wisconsin. To qualify for a seat, Meghan auditioned in February. The audition consisted of memorized scales, an etude, an excerpt from her class A solo and sight reading (reading new music on the spot). In 2021, 37 alto saxophone players auditioned to gain 1 of 4 seats in the honor band. This year, 48 alto saxophones auditioned for the band slots.
As a member of the WSMA State Honors Band, Trader will be attending an intensive summer band camp at UW-Green Bay and will perform at the Music Educator Convention in Madison on October 26 at 4:30 PM.
The list of prior Fennimore students who have participated in the WSMA Honors Project is short. Our first performer was in 1981, Mark Anderson, who was a tenor in the High School Honors Mixed Choir. The only other performer was in 2004, Aric Waldman, a tenor in the Middle Level Honors Choir. Trader is the first student from Fennimore High School to be accepted into the WSMA State Honors Band.
Congratulations Meghan!! #EaglesSoar
