Mrs. Neisius' 5th grade students had some fun with balance scales during science class this week! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Govier's 5K Class. They have been busy in room 8! There is so much to learn and explore as they start the year. Ms. Govier's kindergarten crew has been working hard learning letter sounds in Jolly Phonics. They've brainstormed words they can read and write using the sounds they know. If you know someone in this class, ask them to build a few words for you! They have also been working on reviewing numbers 0-5 in Math and colors during their Unit time. These kindergarten friends are hard workers and Ms. Govier is excited for their year together! Keep up the great work 5K friends! #fes #EaglesSoar

Apples have been the focus in 2nd Grade Science. Students have been learning about the life cycles of the apple tree and the different parts of the apples. Ms. Schwingle's 2nd graders dove into the question presented in Mystery Science, "Why are some apples red and some green?" They learned that the first apples were probably very small and sour (crab apples). As the years evolved, farmers and apple lovers continually looked for a way to make the biggest, the sweetest, the most sour, the roundest, etc. This process is called selection, choosing the seeds from one apple tree that may have the characteristics of the apple desired. The color of the apple may be an indicator for us when choosing apples to eat as to their sweetness or sourness. The students then did an apple experiment, taste testing four varieties of apples - Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Honeycrisp. They tasted each, one at a time, recording the colors and the degree of sourness or sweetness, then choosing the one variety that was their favorite! This sure was some "sweet" science! #fes #EaglesSoar

Fennimore School District would like to welcome Taylor Rosemeyer to our staff as we start the 2023-24 school year. Mrs. Rosemeyer comes to us from the Cassville School District where she was the Director of Special Education.

Tues/Thurs 4K School Picture Day has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 3rd. Sorry for any inconvenience that this rescheduling has caused. Thank you for your patience.

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Schwingle’s 2nd Grade Class. Ms. Schwingle's students are off to a great start! For the first two weeks of school, the students have been going through mini “boot camps” for Reading and Math. In these “boot camps” they learn and practice the daily routines for the school day! In Reading, they are reviewing their short vowel sounds and reading fantasy or fiction stories. In Math, they are practicing many strategies for addition, with using doubles facts, making a ten, and counting on being some of those strategies. Ms. Schwingle can tell this is going to be an awesome year with this 2nd grade class! Keep up the great work 2nd graders! #EaglesSoar #fes

Earlier this month Fourth Grade Students went on their first field trip to the 25th Annual Platteville Historic Re- Enactment. Students spent the day learning and experiencing what life was like in the early 1800's. They got the opportunity to view different demonstrations from blacksmiths, woodworkers and colonial men and women while learning all about Wisconsin history, early traditions and culture, the French Fur Trade and longhouses. They also really enjoyed getting the chance to play the games children used to play long ago. #EaglesSoar #fes

A special thanks to Caseys for providing our 5K-5th grade with a yummy treat for the start of the school year!#EaglesSoar

Recently, Mr. Z's math classes worked on a Breakout Challenge with Mrs. Droessler. Students worked in teams, utilizing their diverse skills and talents, to put their brains together to solve the math puzzles and crack the codes! Great job 5th graders!
