This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Wienkes' Fourth Grade Class. They've been stellar students who have been great at following the school rules. In reading class they've been reading biographies to find the author's point of view. In health class they read about how to make healthy choices in the winter time and have done a lot of movement activities. Fractions have kept us busy in math class. They are halfway through the school year and are excited to continue being model Golden Eagles! Keep up the good work 4th graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Kauffman's Kindergarten Class. These 5 and 6 year olds have been working very hard. They have learned all of their letter sounds and are now learning TWO new sight words a week! By applying their sounds and sight words, these Kindergarteners are becoming determined writers and readers. In math, they have mastered numbers 0-20 and can now add within 5! Recently during unit time they learned all about polar animals, including penguins and polar bears. Students got to make these animals during craft time. They ended their "polar" week with some hot chocolate in the classroom as a reward! Keep up the great work 5K students! #EaglesSoar #fes

This year, Fennimore had the opportunity to host the SWAL Honor Band! On Thursday, students met and rehearsed with other band members in our conference. The concert took place on Saturday with around 400 audience members in our gym!
The participating schools were Boscobel, Cuba City, Darlington, Iowa-Grant, Ithaca, Mineral Point, Riverdale, Seneca, Southwestern, and Fennimore.
Our middle school participants were Cailin Bausch, Collin Birkelo, Cyanne Brown, Logan Koestler, Josiah King (also featured soloist), Noah Needham, Jacob Neuroth, and Julianne Washa.
Our high school participants were Miriam Goldwasser, Angel Gratz, Trinity Klais, Dalton Linneman, Katelyn Schnitzler, Meghan Trader, and Daniel Witzig.
These students represented Fennimore well at the concert and rehearsals. They were true leaders in their sections and respective bands. We are fortunate to have such hardworking musicians in our school!
Our high school guest conductor was Monte Dunnum, a retired band director from Westby and former Viroqua Schools. He is the state FFA Honors Band conductor of 25 years. Our middle school guest conductor was Allison Jaeger who is in her 18th year of teaching instrumental music, currently teaching at Oregon High School in Oregon, WI. She has served as an adjudicator and guest clinician at the Beyond the Notes Music Festival and in the Dane County Area. She also holds the position of Director of Residential Life and Student Engagement for the UW-Madison Summer Music Clinic, welcoming hundreds of students from 5-12th grade every summer. This is just to name a few of the accomplishments of our guest conductors!
Let's give a round of applause to our fine musicians at Fennimore!

On Sunday, five high school students traveled to Luther College to take part in the 73rd Dorian Vocal Festival. The festival is open to juniors and seniors who have been nominated by their school directors. They rehearsed with Luther’s music faculty and participated in sectionals with singers from hundreds of schools around the mid-west. They then performed in a concert held Monday night.
Participating students were Lily Conley, Natalie Koestler, Brandi Oechsle, Mary Kate Rood, and Sydney Stewart (Brennen Freymiller was unable to attend due to other commitments).
Congratulations to these students for earning this privilege! Keep singing!
