2nd graders recently learned about the history of Thanksgiving, including how the Native Americans helped teach the Pilgrims to hunt, fish, and plant crops. They used chocolate pudding (soil), candy corn (corn seeds), Swedish Fish (fertilizer), and crushed up Oreos (dirt) to recreate how they planted corn. The children learned that the Native Americans put fish in with their seeds to help fertilize the corn with nutrients. What a fun and yummy learning activity #EaglesSoar

Mrs. Wienkes' 4th Graders have been busy celebrating Thanksgiving this week. First, they tried to convince the farmer not to choose them for his Thanksgiving dinner. Then, they practiced their listening skills to come up with some Thanksgiving pop-art! #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Streeter's First Grade Class. November has been a very busy month for Mrs. Streeter's 1st graders. They have been reading lots of books and writing their own stories. They have also been learning different strategies to help them become more fluent with their addition and subtraction facts. Playing outside in the freshly fallen snow has been quite a hit and they look forward to building more snowmen and snow forts. With the upcoming holidays approaching, they are all very thankful for their families, friends, and the many blessings in their lives. Keep up the great work 1st graders! #EaglesSoar

5th grade students enjoyed their 1st quarter reward party at the roller rink last week! To earn this reward, students need to be keeping up with their homework assignments for the nine-week grading period and have minimal late work. Keep up the good work students! #EaglesSoar

Fennimore Elementary students are excited about the book fair taking place in our school this week!

Officer French has been visiting fifth grade science classes recently. During this time, he works with students on CounterAct (to resist or oppose) activities. The CounterAct program is meant to give students specific skills they can use to resist alcohol, other drugs, and violence.
Recently during a CounterAct lesson, students got a chance to try on the alcohol and drug goggles. This educational tool gives students an understanding of the real-life risks of alcohol impairment in a safe manner. In this activity, one student put on the alcohol glasses and tried to pick up a ball that was placed on a traffic cone. That student then had to throw it to another student that had the drug goggles on. The other student had to try and catch the ball and then walk the ball back to put on top of the traffic cone. This activity really made students aware of the impact drugs and alcohol can have on their cognitive and motor skills. #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Nalepinski's Tues/Thurs 4K Class. These 4K students had fun recently with the color orange, white and Halloween. They learned about the letters Vv and Xx and have been working hard on their cutting and coloring skills. There sure were a lot of white ghosts hanging around their room before Halloween! Using their imaginations, they also had fun creating monsters in closets after sharing the story, "There's A Nightmare In My Closet". If you dare, go ahead and try to open those closet doors they made hanging in the hall. They sure hope you don't get scared! Keep up the great work 4K students. #EaglesSoar
