They are also doing some activities to help them understand the process of weathering. The fourth graders are off to an excellent start with their learning in 2025! Keep up the great work 4th graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

The school spelling bee for 4th and 5th graders was held last week at Fennimore Elementary. There were 12 participants in all. The hard fought battle for the champion went on for a long time between our 2 finalists - William Biba and Liam Griesel. William ended up taking home first place and Liam second place. Great job to all the participants! #fes #EaglesSoar

After learning about different Apollo Missions in their CKLA reading unit, 5th graders enjoyed designing their own Apollo Landing Modules. Their passengers were eggs. It was time to test their modules this week. Students scored points for how much their projects resembled real modules from NASA, how close they got to their landing target, and most importantly if their passenger, the egg, survived!
Mrs. Langmeier's Class also had a special visitor, Mrs. Adkins, to help them out during the launch. Mrs. Adkins is a former FCS teacher and grandma to one of Mrs. Langmeier's students. This was always one of her favorite projects that she did with her students when she taught at FES. She also shared some information with the students about what she learned from attending Space Camp in Alabama . She even brought them some tasty rocket treats that she made for them! Great work, 5th Graders!

🚀🎉 Ready for Lift-Off: 5th Graders Soar with DIY Rocket Launches! After two weeks of working on their design, the 5th graders were eager and ready to launch their rockets. Using air pressure and water their rockets shot off into the air. Some of the rockets were destroyed by the speed of take-off, others fell apart on re-entry, and some went really high. Everyone had a lot of fun trying to catch them as they came back in for a landing. Overall, this project was a blast! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Neisius' 5th Grade Class. Mrs. Neisius and her student teacher, Mr. McCallum, have been keeping these 5th graders engaged and active! They have been working on creating fictional narratives during reading and literacy, focusing on different text elements such as similes, metaphors, and personification. In science they enjoyed finding the properties of different mystery powders that are found in a kitchen. They’ve been burning them, mixing them with acid, iodine and water, and even tasting them. They also started to create rockets out of two liter soda bottles that will launch into the air. They can’t wait to see how high they will get! #fes #EaglesSoar
