Don't forget about the special dress days this week at FES for Red Ribbon Week! #fes #EaglesSoar

Congratulations to our fall sports athletes on achieving All-Conference recognition! Also congrats to Dave Rosemeyer for being awarded Assistant Coach of the Year! #EaglesSoar #AllConference

Friday mornings = fun at FES! At today's morning assembly we celebrated all the great things happening at FES including handing out the 'Golden Slippers' to Mrs. Timmerman's Class for their excellent behavior in the hallways. There was also a lot of excitement as we had our second teacher challenge of the year. In our first teacher challenge earlier this year, Mrs. Wienkes held onto the Mrs. Edna Crabapple trophy with yet another win in the Oreo cookie challenge. But today, she passed the trophy to Mrs. Schoenberg for her win in the candy corn straw challenge. Great work everyone! #fes #EaglesSoar

On Monday, Oct 16th, the Spanish 3 went on a field trip to the Barrymore Theater in Madison and attended the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet's performance called "The Arts & Dance Experience". Some of the students even got to go on stage and dance with the performers! They then ate lunch at the Aztlan Mexican Grille in Mt. Horeb. "It was muy divertido!" This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Wienkes' 4th Grade Class. Fourth grade students in Mrs. Wienkes' class have had a great start to the school year! In reading they have been working hard to find the theme of different folktales. In math, they are busy remembering their multiplication facts so they can start multiplying bigger numbers. They also did a fantastic job on their health projects they just presented. This group of kids have blown me away with their transition into fourth grade! This year is going to be successful in many ways! Keep up the great work 4th graders! #EaglesSoar #fes

School bus transportation plays a critical role in the education of our students. This week and every week, we extend our gratitude to our Fennimore Community Schools' bus drivers who diligently guarantee the secure transportation of our students day in and day out.
National School Bus Safety Week serves as a reminder for students, parents, school staff, and the community to keep school bus safety in the forefront. As we continue to collaborate in ensuring our students' safety with regards to bus transportation, let's keep these tips and reminders in mind.
⚠️When waiting for the bus, students should stand at least 10 feet away from the edge of the road.
⚠️Crossing students should always walk in front of the bus, never behind it. Before crossing in front of the bus, students should wait for the driver's signal to cross.
⚠️Motorists are required by law to stop for stopped school buses that are displaying flashing red lights and a stop arm. Never pass a stopped school bus.
⚠️Teach your child the importance of behaving on the bus since any disruption can cause the bus driver to become distracted and could result in a crash.
⚠️Warn children that if they drop something getting on and off the bus, they should never pick it up. Instead, they should tell the driver.

Fennimore High School Band is proud to announce and congratulate Fennimore High School senior, Miriam Goldwasser, on her musical success. Last spring, Miriam auditioned for the Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra on clarinet and was chosen to become a member of the group. Her audition consisted of various scales, orchestral excerpts and a solo excerpt demonstrating her virtuosity. The Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra is the premier youth orchestra in the tri-state area, and it is a great honor to have one of our very own Fennimore students represented. Their first concert of the season will be at 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 29 at Jansen Hall in Clarke University in Dubuque.

Don't forget about early release tomorrow, Thursday, October 19th. #fcs #EaglesSoar

Third grade classes got the chance to visit Folklore Village last week. While there, the students were able to learn, celebrate, and experience ethnic and traditional folklife. They made wool into felt balls, played games in a one-room schoolhouse and learned different dances. The students enjoyed the hands-on activities and seeing the history and traditions come to life! #EaglesSoar #fes

Kindergarten students visited Vesperman Farms last week before the rainy weather set in. The students had a beautiful day to enjoy all the fun activities. Some of their favorites were feeding the goats and petting other animals, exploring the mini corn maze, zipping down the zip line, taking a wagon ride, and picking a pumpkin. #EaglesSoar #fes

The Fennimore FFA is proud to announce its eighth-annual "Scare-Away-Hunger" food drive, taking place on Tuesday, October 31st from 4-7:30 pm. They will be offering two options for picking up donations this year. FFA members will visit any house with lights on and without a box or bag. They ask that all items be pre-bagged or placed in the bag they will provide. They will also be doing curbside pickups so items can be placed by the curb. Items will be donated to the Depot Exchange Food Pantry and Southwest Tech Charger Cupboard.

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Schoenberg's 3rd Grade Class. Mrs. Schoenberg’s Class has been working very hard in reading. They have been identifying the cause and effect in a story and how to use text evidence to support their answers. In math the third graders have been working on learning their multiplication facts. They got to be distributive doctors and took apart different multiplication equations. In science they have been working on animal life cycles and in social studies they have been learning about maps. This class has gone above and beyond Mrs. Schoenberg’s expectations. They are a joy to have this school year and she looks forward to seeing them learn something new everyday! Keep up the great work 3rd graders! #EaglesSoar #fes

Attention Miss Kim’s Tuesday/Thursday classes:

This week is National School Lunch week! The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.
A special thanks to our Fennimore School District lunch heroes who make sure our students are served great meals every day! #fcs #EaglesSoar #NSLW23

Last week, the 5th grade students got the opportunity to go on a field trip to Bethel Horizons to work on team building. The students worked together and built trust in one another during the Low Ropes challenge activities. The Zip Line and Big Swing challenges helped students face their fears while also giving them the chance to encourage and support one another. Throughout the day, the students learned that if they respected each other, included each other, supported one another and empathized with each other that they could RISE above any challenge! It was a fun and exciting day that many of these fifth graders will never forget! #EaglesSoar #fes
