During the first quarter of the school year Mrs. Droessler worked with the fourth and fifth grade students to review the keyboarding skills they had learned in the previous year. Then, throughout the rest of the year students worked through a self-paced online keyboarding program to continue to build their skills. Periodic checks were done to monitor student progress and celebrate student success. The growth in speed, accuracy and confidence as the year progressed was amazing! At the end of the year, Mrs. Droessler handed out awards to the top 3 keyboarders in each homeroom based on the data from the online program. Congratulations to the top keyboarders from each class, as well as all the fourth and fifth graders, for their hard work and dedication to learning this important skill. #fes #EaglesSoar

A couple of weeks ago we shared that Bree Stalsberg was the Agriculture in the Classroom essay contest winner on the county and district level. Her essay then went on to the state level. Mrs. Kamps and Mrs. Langmeier recently received word that Bree has won the state contest for the 5th grade! This is extra exciting as Bree was the state winner for 4th grade last year. Bree will be honored at a ceremony during the Annual Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection Board Meeting on July 11th. Congratulations Bree! Thank you for your involvement in the Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom program. Fennimore is proud of you! #fes #EaglesSoar

Is your child missing their glasses? These were left at the elementary school and found after students had left for the summer. They can be collected in the elementary office Monday - Thursday!

Many of our grade levels got the chance at the end of the year, if the weather cooperated, to do an afternoon at Marsden Park. They walked up to the park, had a picnic lunch, and then got to play all afternoon! Such a fun way to get some fresh air and exercise! #fes #EaglesSoar

FES Third Graders went to Osborne Nature Center in Elkader, Iowa earlier in May. On this trip, students were charged with using their eyes, ears, fingers, and noses to experience the ecosystem around them. They found plants that smelled like licorice, bugs that camped out on plants, and bald eagles flying on a nature hike. They also got a chance for some close up encounters with various animals, including bears, wolves, coyotes, and eagles. Finally, students were sent on a scavenger hunt to find items in nature. It required a lot of focus to find the many items on the list. Students had a great time investigating the nature around them. #fes #EaglesSoar

The Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom held its annual essay contest. The theme this year was ‘Wisconsin Agriculture is Fruit-ful.’ This year, three fifth graders from Fennimore Elementary School entered the contest. Chloe wrote about strawberry production. Aidan told readers about Wisconsin blueberries. Finally, Bree’s entry was on pumpkins. While all of these entries were spectacular, Bree's essay was recognized as the county and district winner! Her essay now moves on to the state contest. Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom is sponsored by the Farm Bureau Federation. Representatives from the Grant County Farm Bureau visited FES earlier this week to present Bree with her award. They even brought treats for the entire 5th Grade Class! Good Luck at the State Contest Bree! #fes #EaglesSoar

As a culmination of their Landforms Unit, the 2nd graders got to go "spelunking" (cave exploring) in the Eagle Cave near Blue River. Thanks goes out to Wes, Michelle, and Kyle Hanke for providing this cave experience. In addition to the tour of the cave, the kids went on a "gold" hunt hike, took a wagon ride through the campgrounds, and even played miniature golf. #fes #EaglesSoar

Recently, the third graders went on a field trip to the Doll and Toy Museum in Fennimore. While there, they learned the history of toys, including the materials used to make them, why they were made, and what genres they covered. Following very interesting information about collections, students went on scavenger hunts to find certain toys. They had to prove they found it by giving information about the item. The scavenger hunt proved to be an excellent opportunity for them to gain new information and facts about everyday toys. Thank you Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum for a wonderful visit! #fes #EaglesSoar

FES students entered a contest created by Delta Kappa Gamma Society Mu Chapter. Lily received a Literary Achievement Certificate. Annabelle and Rebecca tied for 2nd place and Makiyla received 3rd place. Great job students! #fes #EaglesSoar

On May 10th the weather cooperated for the 79th Annual Wisconsin Safety Patrol Congress in Wisconsin Dells. Each year the Congress recognizes and rewards students who faithfully serve as school safety patrols during the course of the school year. These students are positive role models and recognized as leaders by their peers. The Wisconsin Safety Patrol Congress is a special event that shows appreciation for their hard work and dedicated service..
FES Safety Patrol Members started the day on a boat tour of the Upper Dells. Then they went mini golfing, played laser tag, and went on a Wizard's Quest. Finally, they walked downtown and checked out some of the shops. It was a great day of fun for these leaders! #fes #EaglesSoar

Recently 5th graders enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Platteville. They started their day off at the Platteville Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums where they learned about what life was like in Southwest Wisconsin for the past 200 years. From there, they ate lunch and enjoyed recess at the Platteville Inclusive Playground in Smith Park. The zip line was a big hit! Finally, they visited the "Big M" and hiked up the 266 steps to the top! It was a beautiful day full of great things for both the mind and the body! #EaglesSoar #fes
