The Kindergarten classes recently enjoyed their Fall field trip to Vesperman Farms. They enjoyed an unusually warm fall afternoon at the farm filled with tractor rides to the pumpkin patch, feeding goats in the animal barn, and testing their brains in the mini corn maze. They had an awesome trip as always! They want to thank Vesperman Farms for opening their doors to student tours and the chaperones that joined them. Happy Fall Everyone! #fes #EaglesSoar

They have been reading lots of stories and learning about places to visit in the UK. In math, they have been learning about addition strategies to 20. They have also been practicing their doubles facts. In CKLA Knowledge, they have been learning about the human body. Keep up the great work 1st graders!

They have been busy learning the letter sounds and how to read and spell simple CVC words. They also just started a new unit on ‘The Five Senses’ where they have been learning to identify the five senses and understand how their senses can help them. In Math, they have been working on counting, reading, and writing numbers 8, 9, and 10. These 5K students are most excited about their upcoming field trips to the fire station and Vesperman Farms! Keep up the great work 5K friends! #fes #EaglesSoar

Fennimore's 2nd graders have been learning about different animal groups and the characteristics of each group. They focused mainly on animals with backbones (vertebrates). Each student picked out an animal that he or she wanted to research more. The kids chose facts to put on their animal posters with pictures and any other details to make their poster inviting and interesting to read. Then the entire second grade did a poster walk where they could get a glimpse of every poster and even ask the student questions about their animal. Great job, 2nd graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

At the end of September, the 4th Graders visited Stonefield Village where they learned about life in the early 1900’s in Wisconsin. They visited an agriculture museum, a farmhouse, a one room schoolhouse, and the creamery.
In the Agriculture Museum they learned about harvesting wild rice, cranberries, and dairy products. The dioramas and farm equipment helped them understand how farming and farming techniques have changed over time. They also learned how farmers brought their milk to the creamery. They saw the machines used to separate the milk from the fat and even got to make butter!
In the one room schoolhouse they got to experience what school was like back in the early 1900's. They learned that the Pledge of Allegiance has changed over time. They saw how school was segregated, with girls sitting on one side of the room and boys on the other. They even got the chance to experience a knowledge bee by picking a math, spelling or geography question. It was a wonderful day experiencing history! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mr. Rutkowski's 3rd Grade Class. These hard-working students have been learning all about classifying animals based on their unique characteristics. They have been using important reading comprehension skills, such as comparing and contrasting and finding the main idea in a text to understand what is being read. They have also been learning number sense strategies that help them solve unknown multiplication facts in their story problems. Finally, in science, they are identifying characteristics of fossils to determine what a dinosaur might have looked like. Mr. Rutkowski is thrilled with the hard work and excellent questions, even though we can end up following a rabbit trail from time to time. Keep it up 3rd graders! #Eaglessoar
