This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Melcher's 2nd Grade Class. This class has been working hard to learn many 2nd grade skills. Recently, they have been reviewing short vowel sounds, talking about compound words, and practicing how to answer multiple choice questions by using text evidence. They have also read many stories, including fairy tales like Beauty & the Beast. In math, they just finished learning how to fluently add & subtract within 20 using many different strategies. In science, they have been learning about animals, how to classify them, and their habitats. What fun! Keep up the great work 2nd graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's Class of the Week is Mrs. Peterson's Kindergarten Class. It has been a busy start to the year in Room 8! They've danced, played and learned so much in their first few weeks of school. Students are mastering their numbers through five and building on their skills to become readers and writers. Mr. Z's 5th grade Math classes started the year by reviewing some important Math topics with a Breakout. Such a fun way to work on math skills, problem solving, and teamwork! #fes #EaglesSoar
The first teacher challenge of the school year was held this morning during our FES Fennimore Friday PBIS Assembly. It was very close, but Mrs. Kamps came away the winner! She used 2 spoons, and one at a time put the most (25) pennies in the bucket! Way to go Mrs. Kamps! #fes #EaglesSoar

After reading The Water Princess, a story about a girl who lives in Africa and has to walk miles each day to get water, Mrs. Melcher's 2nd Graders used various items to build their own water filters. They talked about how lucky they are to have access to clean water and to be able to attend school each day! The children worked hard to plan, create, experiment, and improve their water filters. On Thursday, July 11th, Bree Stalsberg was recognized for her Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom state winning essay. Bree, her mom, and Mrs. Kamps attended the presentation in Milwaukee at the Annual Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Board Meeting. DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski presented Bree with a plaque recognizing her winning essay. This is the second time Bree has had the state winning essay in the Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom competition. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement, Bree! #fes #EaglesSoar
