As our 5th graders get ready for their Recognition Night on Thursday, May 21, we’re looking back at some fun memories from their elementary years — like this one from their Eagle Cave field trip in 2nd grade. Students from Fennimore Middle School visited our elementary school to read with their kindergarten buddies last week. During the third quarter, the sixth graders write and illustrate children’s books for an authentic audience. Both age groups had a wonderful time, and the experience was meaningful and enjoyable for everyone involved.

The 5th grade classrooms at Fennimore Elementary School turned into a celebration of American history last week as students hosted their “USA on Display” event in honor of America’s 250th birthday. The project served as a culminating activity for the students, who spent weeks researching different American topics tied to letters of the alphabet. After gathering information, students created hand-drawn illustrations and detailed displays to share what they learned. Other grade level students, parents, and grandparents were invited to tour the exhibits and explore topics ranging from national landmarks to important moments in U.S. history. #fes #EaglesSoar

USA on display projects - fifth graders pictures with their displays and family members and other students

Our 4K friends had a wonderful time celebrating their moms last week! Students shared s special song, talked about all the amazing things they would give their moms if they had a million dollars, and presented them with a heartfelt handmade gift. From sweet smiles to the wonderful singing, it was a celebration full of love, laughter, and appreciation for the important moms and mother figures in their lives. #fes #EaglesSoar

High school students took part in the Recreational Education and Exploration Day in Dodgeville. Students traveled to Governor Dodge State Park last Wednesday. Throughout the day, students participated in fishing, hiking, playing yard games, and learning about fire safety. They were able to mingle, hang out, and eat lunch with peers from various schools.

Our 2nd graders wrapped up their chick unit last week with great success! Students loved watching the chicks hatch, grow, and eventually head off to the farm — and even got a chance to gently hold and interact with the baby chicks along the way.

Hands-on experiences like this help bring science to life while teaching students responsibility, patience, observation, and kindness. The excitement and curiosity throughout the unit made it a memorable learning experience for everyone! #fes #EaglesSoar
