This past week the 2nd graders were busy learning about the Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving. For one activity they had to build a Mayflower ship using just a few simple items. The ship had to stay floating while holding 102 people (marbles). A few students were able to build an unsinkable boat. They all agreed that they were thankful that they didn't have to cross the Atlantic Ocean on the Mayflower! #EaglesSoar #fes

Earlier this week the third grade classes learned about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then they made their own balloons and created their own Broadway Street. The students worked hard and really got creative with their balloons and it was super fun to see the end products! Great job 3rd Graders!

This week's Class of the Week is Ms. Kauffman's Kindergarten Class. These 5 and 6 year olds are some hard workers. They have learned all of their letter sounds and a total of ten sight words! They are using their letter sounds to make CVC words. In math, they have worked on numbers to 10, while identifying groups that are greater or less. Recently during unit time they learned all about Thanksgiving. They even made a turkey craft! These kindergarteners sure love their holidays and can’t wait to get into the Christmas spirit at school. Keep up the great work 5K friends! #EaglesSoar #fes

Fourth grade students just finished learning about Wisconsin's first Native American groups. They took the information that they learned and made dioramas representing what their houses and the surrounding area looked like. It is always interesting to learn how the houses changed according to the group, the weather, and how they lived. Great job 4th Graders! #fes #EaglesSoar

This week's class of the week is Mr. Rutkowski's 3rd graders. These students have been working very hard to master their multiplication and division facts, and are using them to solve challenging story problems. In reading, they are learning how to identify the theme of a story by reading fables. Classic stories of friendship and teamwork have been good conversation starters! In addition to our reading and math units, students have been learning about the oceans, continents, and the life cycle of plants and animals. They have had a great start to 3rd grade, and Mr. Rutkowski is looking forward to the learning, games, and jokes that will fill the rest of the year! #EaglesSoar

On Thursday, October 26th, a group of middle and high school students traveled to Madison's Overture Center to watch a classmate perform with the 2023 State Honors Band. Meghan Trader, senior, auditioned last school year on the alto saxophone and became the first Fennimore High School student to perform with this group! The band played several songs during their hour-long concert, including several composed by WI composers who were in attendance. Congratulations Meghan on this amazing opportunity! #KeepMakingMusic #EaglesSoar

For the 2nd year, the Spanish 3 students have participated in the Symbolic Migration project. They sent their ambassador butterfly and paper butterflies on October 20th. They look forward to the return of the monarchs in the spring.
The annual migration of millions of monarch butterflies across North America is among the world’s most spectacular natural events. Facing declines in monarchs’ eastern and western populations, governments, non-profit organizations, community groups, and countless individuals throughout Mexico, the United States, and Canada are cooperating to protect the monarch butterfly.
Through the Symbolic Migration Project, youth can also participate in monarch conservation and protection. Youth decorate paper Symbolic Ambassador Monarch Butterflies that are mailed and distributed to schools near the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Central Mexico. These symbolic butterflies build bridges of communication among participants in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. United by the monarch butterfly, youth celebrate and pledge to protect monarchs and their extraordinary migration.
