Fennimore Middle School’s Word of the Month is Awareness 💡

Today, our seniors Ryder Zdanczewicz, Peyton Lendosky, and Kayahna Furrer shared powerful reminders about what it really means to be aware. They talked about how jokes may seem funny in the moment, but without understanding what someone else might be going through, those same jokes can be hurtful. Awareness means thinking beyond ourselves and choosing kindness.

They also highlighted the importance of including others and being present—especially in a world full of screens. When we’re constantly focused on our devices, we can miss meaningful moments and connections happening right in front of us.

Our guest speaker, Kim Droessler, encouraged students to take control of their technology use. She reminded us that we should be the ones in charge of our digital world—not the other way around—and to make intentional choices about how we spend our time online.

Let’s continue to practice awareness every day: in our words, our actions, and how we show up for others. 💙

Our FES 5th graders recently had the opportunity to visit People's State Bank for a hands-on learning experience! Students enjoyed an informative tour from Kayla and Sandy, where they got to see the coin sorter, explore the vault, and learn real-world banking skills like filling out deposit slips and making deposits and withdrawals. They also discovered interesting facts about U.S. currency and what makes each bill unique. Thank you to Kayla and Sandy for such a fun and educational visit!#fes #EaglesSoar

this week's events
The Fennimore Area Health Foundation recently stopped by to present Mrs. Bunn’s 5th grade students with 25 copies of The Amazing Generation. Inspired by the #1 New York Times bestseller The Anxious Generation, this book is written for nine- to twelve-year-olds. Whether or not students already have smartphones or social media, this engaging guide is filled with surprising facts, a graphic novel, interactive challenges, “secrets” tech leaders don’t want kids to know, and real-life stories from young adults who regret getting smartphones too early and hope to help the next generation make wiser choices.

This is the second generous donation Mrs. Bunn’s students have received, ensuring that every 5th grader will have a copy to read. Students will wrap up the year with a unit focused on digital wellness—learning not just how to avoid becoming the next “Anxious Generation,” but how to become amazing.

Mrs. Bunn and her students are incredibly grateful to the Fennimore Area Health Foundation for their generosity and their commitment to supporting students’ digital wellness and mental health. Their support is making a meaningful difference for our kids. #fes #EaglesSoar

Second graders are having a blast counting down the days to the end of the school year with an ABC Countdown! Each day brings a new letter-themed activity, and students are loving the fun and excitement that comes with every special theme. Recently, “B” Day was all about bubbles, and the students had a popping good time blowing, chasing, and creating bubbles. #fes #EaglesSoar

Our 2nd graders recently put their creativity and confidence on full display as they shared their poetry with classmates, teachers, and judges. Poetry helps students build so many important skills — reading fluency, vocabulary, public speaking, and self-expression — and our 2nd graders did an amazing job showcasing all of those talents last week. We are so proud of their hard work and bravery! #fes #EaglesSoar

During our ordinary lunch period yesterday, our elementary school was transformed into a formal dining experience! This special event was planned and hosted by Mrs. Ambort along with our outstanding Student Council. Students were treated to fancy decorations, soft lighting, and relaxing music—all while being served by Student Council members who did an excellent job creating a welcoming, polished atmosphere. What a fun and memorable way to make a regular school day feel extraordinary. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen for our students! #fes #EaglesSoar

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, our junior class took part in SWIFLE - Southwest Wisconsin Financial Literacy Event. During this hands-on experience, students worked through a monthly budgeting simulation, making real-life decisions based on income, responsibilities, needs, and wants.

The activity continues to be an eye-opening opportunity, giving students valuable insight into managing finances. A big thank-you to all the volunteers who help make this event possible each year! #EaglePride
